Last night in the podcast, OC.com claims to have communicated with the OC community about the launch of the Garmin site.  They didn't talk to me at OC.us... have they talked to you?

Hi @all,

yes, we had contact to Garmin USA before some weeks, after the prototype of oc.com has been online for some hours. It was a phone conference of 2 hours. But saying "have communicated with the OC community" are the very wrong words.

The problem was: Garmin wanted to keep their developments confidential. They asked us to sign a non disclosure agreement, but we did not sign it. So the phone conference did not get in deep with their concepts and of course, we have been asked not to post the infos from that phone conference in the international developer forum until the site was released. From my point of view, the most important result from this phone call was, that Garmin uses Waypoint prefix "OX" and no more "OC" as they did before. We talked in a short form about possible future cooperations like listing exchange, but there were no "insider infos" ... only many maybe's. Garmin sayed they will have an API and with NDA signed, we could see it ... or we have to wait for the public release ... so i decided to wait, because those decisison have to be made by the OC community, not by the me or the german team without talking with the other OC sites ...

... now the site has been launched and maybe we can get in contact with Garmin with more developers of OC to talk about our both perspective.

Sorry, that i was not able to inform you in the OC.pl forum. But of course, the only infos i wanted to write there was "they use OX and will have an API und CC-by license) ...

With kind regards,
Oliver

Can someone write a letter with a little explanation on the name OpenCaching.
OpenCaching OC.com is not only that but OpenCaching Garmin is the name of the network services that exist geocachingowych since 2005 and use the names of their servers Opencaching.xx where xx is a country. The list of national services can be found at OpenCaching http://www.opencaching.eu and they have nothing to do with OpenCaching.com Garmin.

I write about it in so far as the early highlight differences as the term is slowly starting to be associated only with OpenCaching OC Garmin.

Because my english is not good, would anyone be able to write such a comment at https://forums.opencaching.com/forumdis ... Discussion?

Hello,

Particularly I think Garmin has had very bad taste to use the name of a community that you bear much time working. I think it's bad start.

By the Spanish community we call GARMIN's OX, which should be your real name.  ;D ;D ;DDo not you think?

Take this opportunity to greet all members of this forum.

Do you know, which persons of the oc-network this could be?
