BIT Caches

Ideas and plans to talk about
RVRoadTrip

At OCUS, we have users from Europe requesting to list BIT caches on our site because none of the EU nodes have them. We are denying these requests and have referred them to their country specific node to request that BIT caches be implemented.

For more info on BIT caches, see http://www.bitcaching.com/ or http://wiki.opencaching.us/index.php/BIT_Caches.

Hi,
On OC PL users have access to page http://opencaching.pl/qrcode.php with short introductions about this:
Labeled with QR Code (Laminated or in a bag or a sticker) you can use to write short instructions max 77 characters, the next step Multicache coordinates, the password to log, etc., to read the code, use the Reader installed on your mobile phone for example.
where they can generate QRCode which they can use on new caches or existing caches. It is not new type of cache but they have possibility use QRCode info and who want use scan code via Mobile phones
Regards

I think the solution which Waldek showed to us is much better, it is more elegant than the introduction of a new cache type.

Elegant or not, with the coverage they've been getting, I've seen two requests from Europe, asking for the BITcache types.  One was trying to place a new OCUS BITcache in Denmark and the other was just a generic e-mail asking to add them to Europe.

In addition to the QRC, I think the bit that interests folks is the non-container physical cache (placard) idea.
RVRoadTrip

The QR code is not even necessary for the BIT cache, so adding a way to print a QR code to add to a traditional cache is not the same. The uniqueness of the BIT cache is that there is no container yet it is still a physical cache and it requires a password to log it.  If you simply print a QR code for a traditional cache, or use it as part of a multi, that is not the same thing.

But I understand each node operator can do as they see fit. If they do not choose to add the BIT cache type, then users in that country will simply not be able to hide and list them. If the cache type is not accepted in other countries, I may open up OCUS to allow listings from all countries (except China and Russia which are blocked due to incessant spamming).

I don't see / know what you're referring to.
RVRoadTrip

I guess he is referring to the x with a circle around it, but just about every geocaching logo has a variation of it.  As for a link to the repository, Google it.  That's how I found it.

Good question, Malte.
Where is the problem?
