Hi,
My team and I wish to bring OPENCACHING to Romania and bring up the opencaching.ro node.
It was supposed to happen last year, but circumstances went against it.
This spring however, it must happen!
We also wish to join the global Opencaching network and facilitate access via OKAPI.
We decided to go with the DE branch after reading what info we were able to find.
I would like to seek assistance in installing, configuring and most important : translating the opencaching software
https://github.com/OpencachingDeutschland/oc-server3/tree/stable for our node.
Unfortunately none of us speaks german and translating the documentation (mostly in german) with Google translate still leaves a lot of questions.
Our site will feature romanian (as primary language) and english as secondary.
The other languages already featured by the software will be supported as well.
However it is yet unclear what and where to translate and how to store the additional version, how much is in the database, how much is hardcoded, and how much is written only in one language.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
opencaching.ro
hello andrixnet_ro,
welcome to the opencaching-universe
first of all, most of us are able to speak and write in english and as i can read you as well... and the other important thing is, the founder of opencaching has developed the whole code to be fairly easy translated... and nearly anything in the code is in english...
so the easiest way to get the whole opencaching.de code to romainian is translating any text sniplet (about 2500 if i remember correctly) from english to romainian (like our french colleagues are doing at the moment)...
please send me a pm with your email address, i will send you the data and the instructions how to translate... installing and configuring an oc.de-system from scratch we can start in a few weeks maybe, i have to time coordinate a few other projects
regards Nils

That´s nice to hear.
Send me Your email-address by personal note, and I will give You read-access to the oc.de image and SQL-dump from my google drive.
Both things are needed for setting up the developer system. Best wishes, Mic@

Very bad idea! Don't give him this extremely outdated Image, wait for bohrsty, there is time enough.

Welcome Romania also from me for the c:geo development team. I don't know how relevant Smartphone caching is (or is going to be) in Romania, but if you want to be supported by c:geo once your OKAPI is up, just drop me a line.
ra_sch
BTW: c:geo is open source - so if you'd like to translate it to Romanian, also drop me a line.

What are the terms of use for the opencaching logo ?
I mean the "G" and the yellow sun.
I found a pretty good vector version from the poles here : http://code.google.com/p/opencaching-pl/source/browse/logbook/opencaching-logo.svg?r=3741
I got the font (in his hands) as described here: http://forum.opencaching-network.org/http://localhost//viewtopic.php?t=7
I've made some modifications tailored for Romania, but what I need to know is : am I allowed to ?
Thank you

There was discussion in Polish forum, and the outcome is that the logo is in public domain. So you can modify and use it freely.
the result of the german discussion was: the "G" is public domain and freely usable, but the "yellow sun" is taken from a corel-draw artwork collection (a little bit adapted by a user) and might be protected with copyrights... so oc.de decided to create a new logo (as we did in a challenge)...
so there might be doubts using the old logo, but this is your decision... if you are interested in our new one, you could ask Michael (4_Vs) for the terms of use...

Yes, that was another one of my admins from Opencaching.us asking that question, and we too moved away from the Yellow Sun, and used the In his hands font.
Welcome to the future opencaching.ru! And I did not know someone from France was working on their own node. Opencaching.lv (Latvia) never launched, and there used to be just a logo there, but even that is gone now. And Opencaching.jp (Japan) only existed for a year, and gave up with 8 or so cache listings (you can still view it at archive.org).
We will all be needing an opencaching.ru "national opencaching servers" banner for our sites. I have no idea if anyone is in charge of that project.

@Mr.Yuck - not opencaching.ru - it is opencaching.ro (Romania, not Russia) ;-)
I knew that! For some reason, I not only typed .ru once, but twice! There will most likely never be an opencaching.ru, as geocaching.su rules Geocaching in Russia.

UPDATE:
Website work and translation is well under way, using the OCPL branch. Many thanks to Harrie Klomp from OCNL and the entire OCPL team.
I have a question for all node operators, as directed by Wojciech Rygielski of OKAPI :
What are the currently allocated node_id's ?
So far I've learned about these from the OCPL devel VM:
/* Well known node id's - required for synchronization
* 1 Opencaching Germany (www.opencaching.de)
* 2 Opencaching Poland (www.opencaching.pl)
* 3 Opencaching Tschechien (www.opencaching.cz)
* 4 Local Development
* 5 Opencaching Entwicklung Deutschland (devel.opencaching.de)
* 6 OC UK
* 7 OC SE
* 8 OC NO
* 9 OC LV
* 10 OC US
* 11 OC JP
*/
I understand OCNL has node_id=14
so what is the actual current allocation?
I ask so that I know what node_id I can set to our own node.
Thank you.
